These articles reflect the services I provide to support clients to find their Right Career Fit.

Today’s article emphasizes the value of reflection to reveal your interests and get to know you aka self-knowledge. Future articles will focus on the next two components of the Career Fit equation. 

Getting Started

One way to get started is by looking at images that capture your attention.

For example, as you scroll through social media, take a closer look at the images or reels that make you want to stop, click and or read more. Don’t overwhelm yourself by choosing many. Just choose the first one or go back to your accounts and see which ones you liked, commented on or shared.

These likes and comments are telling you something about yourself. But what are they saying?

Dig Deep

​Now that you have chosen the image/reel, it is reflection time.

Follow along with the image provided as an example.

Let’s pretend it caught your attention. What does dig deep mean?

Ask the following questions:
  
What is it about?
Why did you choose it?

​Consider the first thing that caught your attention.

What did you see?
Not sure? Close your eyes and try again.

​Name the one primary item in the image that captured your interest. Here are some examples on how to dig deep and use this experience to become acquainted with YOU.

BIKES

​What do you like about bikes?

• Repairing bikes
• Outdoor cycling/indoor cycling
• Mountain biking/road biking
• Socializing

FLOWERS

​What is it that you like about flowers?

• Photographing
• Painting
• Gardening
• Arranging

PATIO

​Did you even notice the patio?

• Relaxing
• Constructing
• Painting
• Designing

NATURE

​Perhaps it was the fact that the image was outdoors?

• Camping
• Hiking/walking
• Conserving

Why THIS Image - MY TURN

​Let me give you a better idea by demonstrating my personal reflections on this image.

I captured this image during vacation. Reflecting on what I saw, here is what I learned:

• I like being around other people. Seeing more than one bike signified an activity I relish. Whether biking or golfing, I look forward to being with a group.
• I love to walk and going out for coffee with a friend or two after my walk. The patio looked like a place I could stop for coffee after my walk.
• Variety is very important to my daily routine. This image captured my attention with the different possibilities within it.

Right Career Fit

​Once you feel that you know YOU, it is time to check out the different relevant industries and the possible jobs or even careers associated with these industries.

Remember that the right fit career is the result of understanding YOU and recognizing the industries that best fit YOU.
